Paleoclimatología y clima antártico – PALEO –
Reconstruimos climas pasados en Sudamérica para conocer el contexto histórico en el que se desarrollan los cambios climáticos documentados en el presente y los proyectados para las próximas décadas. Estudiamos el ciclo regional pasado y presente de aerosoles minerales (polvo) en el sur de Sudamérica y su interacción con el clima, utilizando metodologías de monitoreo, muestreo geológico, caracterización físico-química y modelado numérico. Investigamos los mecanismos dinámicos involucrados en el transporte atmosférico de contaminantes antropogénicos y polvo desde Sudamérica hacia Península Antártica.
